Mr. Lucas BrownLucas Brown is an educator from Minot, ND. He holds a BSE in Music from Minot State University (2008). Brown was an active musician in Minot and surrounding areas and has served as the music director for the Minot State University Summer Theater Program, Mouse River Players, and various church ensembles. He currently lives in North Andover, Massachusetts with his partner and their boxer lab- Molly. He is currently the music director at Pickering Middle School, where he teaches 7th and 8th Grade General Music, and Middle School Chorus. In his sixteen years of teaching, he has also worked at International Music Camp as Musical Theater Accompanist and Dean of Boys. In addition to his experience as a teacher, he is a professional pianist who has accompanied groups such as MSU Women’s Chorus, Western Plains Youth Ensemble, and Voices of Pride, which he also founded. He served as the accompanist for the Voices of Note Women's Chorus in Minot ND and has also performed with Minot Symphony Orchestra as a pianist and organist. He was the founder, accompanist, conductor, and artistic director of Voices of Pride which was the first LGBTQ and allies chorus in North Dakota. He has composed multiple works for choirs and ensembles and enjoys arranging religious, secular, and sacred music. He is a member of NAFME (National Association for Music Education), ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), NEA (National Education Association), and NBA (National Band Association). Brown is also an Eagle Scout and was the organizer of a seasonal traveling orchestra that performs for nursing and assisted living homes, making music accessible to the senior population. His original compositions have been included in the score to “The Poe Project,” a one-man theatrical performance presented in New Jersey. This show relies heavily on the incorporation of musical, verbal, and artistic imagery. He has also composed and arranged numerous orchestrations (Band, Choir, and Orchestra), among numerous poetic settings for choir, choir and orchestra, and piano.
